Welcome to Al Sahwa Schools Library!
The library is literally at the heart of school, The main purpose of the library is to meet the informational needs of the students and faculty. Books and other media are added to the collection throughout the year and serve to complement teachers’ instructional program and provide students with a wide variety of reading choices. In selecting material, the library considers the educational curriculum, individual learning styles, and the existing collection.
The following criteria determine appropriaten - Accuracy: items are factual and up to date; - Interest: the material appeals to students and staff; - Comprehensive: a wide variety of topics are represented; - Relevance: to the student population and curriculum standards; - Meaningful: the materials are useful to students and teachers in their programs of study.
Students and teachers are
always welcome to use the library for research, collaboration on projects,
quiet reading and of course, to borrow books from the book room.
Students in grades 1-3 may borrow 1 book for one week. Students in
grades 4-12 may borrow 2 books for one week. Renewals are permitted. The 2 media centers are available for student use during both breaks and teachers may book the halls to use with their students. Each video hall is equipped with a TV, VCR and a DVD. Each computer hall has 9 networked PC computers, connected to the internet and printer access. A digital camera is also available for teachers to borrow and record special happenings and moments. The operating hours of the library are from 7:30-2:30 Saturday through Wednesday.
